Overview
The 300 letter-car series is undoubtedly the most renowned of all Chryslers, dating to the launch of the first Chrysler C-300 in 1955. Equipped with a 300hp V8, the car was phenomenally fast and gorgeously styled, turning it into an instant classic.
50 model years later, Chrysler launched the new 300C, with an available 5.7L V8 engine featuring hemispherical combustion chambers – affectionately known as the “Hemi”. What was especially unusual about the new 300C, is that it used an all-new front-engine, rear-wheel-drive unibody platform, something that hadn’t been seen from an American manufacturer in many years. Designed by rising star Haitian-American Ralph Gilles (now Head of Design at Stellantis), the car became an instant American cultural icon, famously owned by many American luminaries and stars, including Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Drake, Ice Cube and former President of the United States, Barack Obama. Demand was so strong during the first couple years of production that an additional production facility was added in Graz, Austria to fill international demand – unheard of up to then for an American sedan.
Today, the Chrysler 300 remains an American classic and continues to receive top recommendations from consumer and enthusiast publications thanks to its comfortable, sure-footed and powerful luxury cruising it offers. For an expressive and proven American luxury sedan, nothing can beat the Chrysler 300.
